The fixed time limit is a good thing! It makes you focus and optimize and plan and scheme to achieve whatever goals you set for yourself. You have a fixed number of days, most of which will be filled with classes that you will probably attend most of unless you have specific reasons to do otherwise. My only complaint right now is that Year 2 isn't out yet. Yeah, it's got a learning curve, but there are forum posts and steam guides and a wiki that will help you figure out how to optimize your way to powerful levels. It's the systems that kept me coming back. Still I bought and played this game for 80 hours. I'm not a fan of Harry Potter, or other things with similar 'magical kids in magic school' themes. Which you only find out when you scour the message boards for the game. That was not a risk that would ever cross my mind with the way this material was advertised.Īnd I didn't even get into the problem that the save game function does not work and you have to use a work around. I did not agree to buying something that would suddenly trigger childhood PTSD issues at a time I was depressed and actively trying to escape a depressing reality (thus why I purchased this game). This time? No, this time I feel like I was ripped off. I've occasionally wished to go back in time to make different choices, but I've shrugged my shoulders and gone on. I've disliked or been angry at games I've purchased before, but usually I blame myself for those choices and consider the money spent the price that I pay for my decisions. Apparently the way to actually play the game is to save scum like crazy so that you can avoid the bullies unless you built your character specifically to combat bullies (something you're unlikely to do unless you already know how to play the game.Īt this point, I'd really like to return this game for a full refund. At least I could yell at them and report them to the teachers (not an option here). I had an easier time dealing with real life bullies. And I cannot make it stop! I actually started stressing over it. And then I started being hit with -20 to all of my stats so that I could no longer do anything effective with my character. It wasn't great because I didn't know that I needed a complete players guide before playing, but I was nearly done. Except that the game will tell you how to do it, but not how to do it efficiently.Īnd then there is the bullying. Except that unless you immediately realize how the game works and take the right backgrounds to most efficiently study, you're playing the game wrong.Īnd then you're going to want to train your familiar. You need to consult a guide to make an actually useful character.Īnd then you will want to study your subjects. There will be a large number of backgrounds, but only a few are actually useful within the game. You need to build a character with certain goals in mind. It's all the stuff the game doesn't tell you that will make you annoyed and possibly upset. But at least it tells you that at the beginning. The game will tell you that you should try and fail at things to gain skills, and I I don't have an issue with this per se, though I would have liked to know it going into the game. BUZZ! Wrong! The obstacles Harry Potter faced will be nothing compared to what you'll have to contend with here. Let me wave my magic wand and read your mind: You are thinking this is a game of high school wizardry that will let you live out a life similar to Harry Potter. I've wishlisted this game elsewhere, but it never went on sale.Don't buy this game. You can't invite this user because you have blocked him.
